Craftsmanship & Warranty

  • Are Imperial hoods made by hand or mass-produced?

Each Imperial hood is "hand made" at our plant in Brea, California. Dick Mancinelli, who has been with Imperial since it’s birth, personally creates each new style. It is then placed into production at our plant, where all assembly is done by hand. We've been building quality hoods for 50 years, with a reputation for doing the job right and standing behind our product. We have customers happily using hoods that are 30 years old – all they call us for are filter and knob replacements. We build our range hoods to last!

  • What is the warranty and service agreement?

Imperial range hoods have come with a 7-year parts and labor warranty on our models from the date of original purchase. If service is needed, please call (800) 951-4192 for an in-home appointment. There’s no need to dismantle your range hood or ship parts to a service center. A local service dealer will be contracted to handle the warranty repair in your home.

There is no charge for service during the warranty period. A charge may be imposed for parts and labor if warranty conditions are not met – in other words, if installations errors, not manufacturer defects are found to be the cause of the problem. We are proud of our craftsmanship and will make every effort to ensure that your experience with our service is outstanding.

  • Where do I get replacement parts?

Contact Imperial at (800) 851-4192 or (714) 990-9100. Be sure to have the model number of the hood (not the serial number). For filters, please have the exact size of the filter needed.

  • How can I find a dealer?

Click on the "Where To Buy" tab at the top of our website or call us at (800) 851-4192 or (714) 990-9100 to get a referral. We have online dealers and dealers with physical locations.

Custom Hoods, Manufacturing Methods & Materials

  • Can Imperial make custom hoods?

Yes, Imperial can customize our standard canopy designs. We can make changes in the width, height or depth on nearly all of our units.

The amount of customization may be affected by the requirements of the materials used. During your consultation with our designer, please provide the dimensions and specifications you need. For example, instead of a standard 30” width hood, you might need a 31.” We will review to confirm that the materials allow the modification you’re requesting.

  • Can Imperial’s hoods be wired for remote switches?

Simply indicate on your order that you need a remote switch. This can be done on units that come with variable controls.

  • What type of painting system is used?

All painted hoods use a “powder coat” procedure for an even look and durable finish.

  • What grade of steel is used?

Canopy and sub-components are made with 18 and 20 gauge steel.

Lighting

  • What kind of lighting does Imperial feature in its hoods?

Imperial uses LED lighting. Most models have front panel or center panel bulbs to provide ample lighting. Some models have bulbs that are located behind the filters and will shine through the filter mesh.

  • Is there enough light?

Yes, we supply several lighting options to ensure there is sufficient lighting for your cooking area. All our hood styles position the bulbs for maximum illumination of the cooking area.

Filters & Cleaning

  • Do you have baffle filters?

Yes, we have baffle filters in selected models.   Baffle filters are a more professional style look, but do restrict the airflow some as apposed to Mesh Filters where the air flows freely.

  • How often do the filters need to be cleaned?

The frequency of cleanings is determined by your cooking style. The goal is to keep cooking grease from accumulating on the blower, so check your grease tray frequently. Use warm water and a degreaser like Simple Green or 409 to clean both types of filters. Some detergents may cause mesh filters to discolor. Build up of grease can hinder airflow, blower performance and is a fire hazard.

Barbecues

  • Can we use an Imperial hood over an in-door barbecue?

Can we use an Imperial hood over an in-door barbecue?

We do not manufacture a hood intended for use over an indoor barbecue . A barbecue is an uncontrolled heat source and as such can produce a tremendous volume of heat and smoke.  Even if the hood features the maximum CFM of air movement available it may not capture all smoke and fumes. Imperial hoods have been used over grills but we will not warranty the performance when used over a grill.  (Note: the full warranty with regard to product materials and craftsmanship remains in effect.)
