It is important to periodically clean your range hood and filters. How often you clean your hood depends on the amount of usage and the individual type of cooking. Frying generates more grease and increases the need for more frequent cleaning.
Stainless Steel Hoods
To clean, use a clean, soft cloth and mild dish detergent or stainless steel cleaner. Wipe in the direction of the stainless steel grain. Do not use abrasive cleaners, acids or scouring pads. Never use paper towels to clean your hood as they can leave scratch marks. Rinse with warm water and, once again, wipe dry with a soft cloth in the direction of the grain.
Powder Coated Hoods
To clean, use a clean, soft cloth and mild dish detergent or degreaser (such as Simple Green or 409). Do not use abrasive cleaners, acids or scouring pads. Never use paper towels to clean your hood, since they can leave scratch marks. Rinse with warm water and, once again, wipe the range hood dry with a soft cloth.
Filters
It is very important to keep the filters clean. When filters are dirty, the overall performance of the range hood is affected. Depending on your cooking style, it is recommended to clean filters weekly or monthly. Keeping your filter clean will guarantee the removal of smells and grease. If not cleaned, grease may accumulate and pass through to the motors, electrical and dampers.
Baffles: To clean baffles, remove the center panel, baffles and grease tray. Wash them in the dishwasher, or spray them with a degreaser (Simple Green or 409) and wash them by hand. Dry them thoroughly before replacing. NOTE: Grease accumulates in the grease tray and should be cleaned regularly.
Aluminum Mesh & Slim Baffle: Clean filters often for the best performance. How often depends on cooking style. Use hot water and a degreaser (Simple Green or 409) to clean. May be cleaned in the dishwasher through the RINSE cycle ONLY. Some detergents may discolor filters. Slim Baffle, polish with stainless steel cleaner.
